I can usually tell that something is “off” with me when I don’t connect to my spiritual side.
I don’t follow an organized religion, so my practice has evolved throughout the years from staunch atheism, to begrudging agnosticism into something like a post-Jungian, naturalistic spirituality where I focus on connecting with my unconscious, my place within the wider world and the cosmos.
Looking at my “shadow,” “ego,” and “personal unconscious” as a spiritual practice may sound weird since those are psychological terms.
But I like think about looking deeper within myself as a spiritual practice rather than “inner work.”
Why?
Well, if I’m being really honest, it’s because I tend to resist doing things that sound like work!
I don’t like following strict rules; I avoid labels and don’t force myself to do anything “spiritual.” (In the past, I attempted to think about my spirituality practice as I would think about exercising…but the “just do it” approach ain’t for me.)
